Preparing For An Interview From A Dental Perspective

Posted on

If you have a big interview coming up then you want to do everything that you can to increase your chances of getting that job. If you are like most people, you will spend extra time picking out the right outfit, even if it means buying a new one, getting a haircut, preparing things you want to make sure you say during the interview and doing other things you think may help. However, you may also want to put extra effort into making sure your teeth look good and you don't have other issues going on. This article will help you prepare your mouth for your interview, so you can present yourself to the perspective employer in the best light possible:

Get your teeth professionally cleaned before your interview

By going in and having your teeth professionally cleaned by your dentist before you have your interview, you will know that you are doing what you can to ensure that your teeth are looking clean. Neglecting professional cleanings can cause your teeth to have a plaque buildup that can even become obvious after a while.

Have your teeth whitened by your dentist

If your teeth are looking discolored or stained then a professional whitening will also be a good idea. You want to discuss your whitening options with your dentist and see which method of whitening they feel will give you the best results in the shortest amount of time, since some methods require more treatments than others before you really see an improvement.

Be careful of what you eat before your interview

The day of your interview and even the day before it, you want to be careful of the things that you eat. Consuming certain types of food can leave you with a strong and foul smelling breath. You don't want to go into an interview and offend the person interviewing you with bad breath. Some examples of foods and even drinks that you want to make sure you stay away from during this period include alcohol, onions and garlic.

Eat an apple right before you go in for your interview

Sometimes, when people get nervous their mouth gets dry and they will make a clicking noise when they talk. If you start to get this clicking noise during the interview it can be frustrating and simply taking a drink of water won't help take it away. However, eating an apple right before can help to prevent this from happening altogether.
